Big Travel Savings For Low-Rollers
Money Saving Opportunities
That Las Vegas Resorts Actually Wish You Knew
By Kevin Howe
It’s no secret that Las Vegas is on sale. But, do you know all the latest secrets?
A few things we do know: The recessionary economy means fewer people traveling and spending less when they do travel. On top of that, thousands of new hotel rooms are becoming available in 2009 and 2010 because of construction projects that have been under way for several years. When one considers that every 1,000 new rooms requires 250,000 travelers per year to keep that room fully occupied, it soon becomes clear Las Vegas is in the midst of a perfect storm of financial challenges.
If you’re a fan of Las Vegas, you’ve probably already made a trip and enjoyed paying less and receiving more than ever before. If you’re among the minority who think “Vegas isn’t my kind of town,” it just might be time to see what all the fuss is about. Las Vegas truly has something for everyone. There’s no place on Earth that has a greater variety of dining, shopping, pampering, pools and entertainment choices all in one place.
OK, I get it. Las Vegas on sale! Let’s go!
But wait. Before you leave here’s one piece of advice to consider that could end up saving you a lot of money in the future.
Are you like me? I enjoy the thrill of gambling a little bit of money. I usually earmark a couple hundred bucks for the casino. In my mind it’s part of my entertainment fund. If I lose it, and I usually do, I walk away with a mental scrapbook filled with memories of exciting moments; interesting conversations with strangers; the time period where I was actually AHEAD (before I gave it all back), and of course… the free cocktails. That’s a fair trade in my book. And, I don’t ALWAYS walk away behind!
Although I’m a low roller, I’ve actually signed up for various “Player’s Club” programs. Usually I’ve done so because someone (generally a very attractive casino employee) suggested that I do it. Plus, signing up usually comes with a few nice coupons and a free opportunity to pull the handle of a slot machine that’s bigger than my first car, with the opportunity to WIN a nicer car than the one I’m driving.
